West Virginia Fire Claims Lives of Two Children



PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va. — First responders throughout Putnam County were dispatched to a mobile home park in the community around 10:47 a.m. Sunday, following reports of a structure fire.

According to law enforcement officials, upon arrival, emergency officials reported the structure fully engulfed with flames.

A preliminary investigation has found that one adult and three children were present at the time of the incident.

“It is with a heavy heart, and prayers for the family, that I am reporting two children, ages three (female) and nine (male) were pronounced dead at CAMC Teays Valley. Another child, age seven (male) was transported to a local hospital for smoke inhalation,” stated Putnam County Sheriff Steve Deweese.

According to Deweese, the West Virginia State Fire Marshall Office is on scene and conducting an investigation.
