Law enforcement officials in southeastern Kentucky are seeking the public’s help in solving a case in which several graves were either destroyed, vandalized or desecrated, in Wayne County.

Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron took to Facebook over the weekend, requesting the public’s assistance in identifying “the person or persons responsible for the desecration of graves at the Parmley’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery on Kentucky Highway 789 (Camp Earl Wallace Road).”

According to law enforcement officials, on Wednesday, October 12, 2016, a church member discovered that several tombstones and grave markers had been knocked over, moved or destroyed.

Neighbors and church members have been asked to notify the police if they are aware of any unusual activity at the church in the days prior to the desecration.

Individuals with information that could prove helpful to police in their search are encouraged to contact the sheriff’s office at 606-348-5416.
