According to the United States Geological Survey, a 2.6-magnitude earthquake shook the ground of East Tennessee Sunday at approximately 11:47 a.m.
The quake’s epicenter was located approximately 5-miles northwest of Rogersville, Tennessee, roughly 30 miles west of Kingsport.
Quakes of this magnitude rarely cause significant damage; however, they are often felt and can sometimes be strong enough to shake indoor objects.
According to USGS data, the minor quake was felt as far away as Florence, Alabama.
