9-Year-Old Killed in W.Va. House Fire



Tuesday night at approximately 11:05 pm, the Tyler County, West Virginia, E-911 Center received a report of a house fire on Goldring Road Middlebourne, WV.

The call was received by a third party caller.

The caller advised that the attic of the house was on fire.  The 911 Center received a second call a few moments later from the third party caller advising that someone was trapped in the residence.

Emergency personnel were dispatched from Middlebourne Volunteer Fire Department, Sistersville Volunteer Fire Department, Alma Volunteer Fire Department, Shirley Volunteer Fire Department, Paden City Volunteer Fire Department, Middlebourne EMS, Tyler County Office of Emergency Services and the Tyler County Sheriffs Office.

Upon the arrival of emergency responders, one 9-year-old male juvenile was not accounted for that lived inside the residence. Emergency crews fought the fire and found the body of one juvenile male who resided in the residence. The male juvenile was deceased.

The West Virginia State Fire Marshalls Office and the West Virginia State Medical Examiners Office was contacted and responded to the scene. The name of the male juvenile is not being released at this time. The American Red Cross responded to the scene to assist the victims. The incident is still under investigation by the West Virginia Fire Marshalls Office and the Tyler County Sheriffs Office.
